Travel

TUBE: The closest station Custom House is a short walk the ExCeL.

CAR: Follow signs for Royal Docks, City Airport and ExCeL. There is easy access from the M25, M11, A406 and A13. On site parking must be pre-booked. For information on how to book in advance see here.

PLANE: London City Airport is located 5 minutes from ExCeL by taxi or 10 minutes by DLR.

ACCESS REGISTRATION

‍At Musical Con, we are committed to ensuring accessibility for all and continually strive to exceed national standards for inclusivity at conventions.

To enhance the experience of our attendees with access requirements, we’ve partnered with Nimbus Disability, a social enterprise run by and for disabled people.

To ensure we can meet your needs, all attendees requiring accessibility provisions must join our Access Registration Scheme by October 1st. This includes registering with Nimbus Disability unless you are already a member.

How to Register

Registration is quick, simple, and completely free.

1. Complete your application via Nimbus Disability on the link below. (If you already have a Nimbus Access Card, no need to reapply - go straight to step 3.)

2. Once processed (usually within 72 hours) you will receive your unique registration number via email.

3. Return to the link below, enter your registration code, and follow the steps to complete your registration.

WRISTBANDS
‍
Musical Con operates an accessibility wristband system. This will help our staff and volunteers identify and assist anyone who has accessibility requirements and might require additional assistance.

• Wristbands will be provided to individuals based on their evidenced access requirements (see Access Registration).

• Wristbands can be collected upon arrival at our Accessibility Desk which is located at the entrance of the queuing hall.

• If you’ve missed the deadline to register for the Accessibility Scheme, it’s recommended to visit the Accessibility Desk upon arrival. While our staff will do their best to accommodate your needs, please note that certain services may not be guaranteed without prior registration.

ADVISORY NOTICE

Lighting & Sound
‍
Please be advised that during some performances and in certain areas of the venue, theatrical haze and flashing lighting effects will be used. Additionally, multiple amplified sound sources will be present, which some attendees may find overwhelming.
‍
For those who may need a break, a quiet room will be available within the main hall for ease of access. However, please note that this space will not be completely soundproof.
We recommend that those with sensory sensitivities bring sound mufflers for added comfort.

General Seating
‍
Musical Con is a convention-style event, and as such, general seating is limited and only available in the Backstage Theatre, workshops and hospitality area.

SUPPORT & ORIENTATION

If you have any accessibility concerns or require assistance, please speak with a member of our staff at the Accessibility Desk at the entrance to the queuing hall or the Information Desk in the event halls.

FEATURES & SERVICES

Musical Con is committed to ensuring accessibility for all attendees. Below are the available access features and services available with the appropriate wristbands.

Wheelchair Access
• The ExCeL London and all areas of Musical Con, including workshops, masterclasses, and stages, are fully wheelchair accessible. Lifts, toilets and an all-level viewing platform and reserved spaces can be accessed with the appropriate wristbands.

Essential Companion Passes
• Free essential companion passes are available for those requiring assistance. This year, passes will be provided via the Accessibility Scheme and do not need to be selected at check out and approved separately.

Access Queuing
• Accessibility queue lines are available in the main queuing hall and at all features within the convention hall.
‍
Accessible Viewing Areas
• Main Stage and Backstage Theatre have designated accessible seating areas, including an all-level viewing platform for wheelchair users and reserved seating for those with visual or audio impairments. Seating is subject to availability.
‍
Quiet Zone
• A sensory-friendly quiet zone will be available for guests needing a break. or those who may need a break, a quiet room will be available within the main hall for ease of access. However, please note that this space will not be completely soundproof. We recommend that those with sensory sensitivities bring sound mufflers for added comfort.

BSL Interpretation
• BSL interpreters will be available at the Main Stage and Backstage Theatre for key programming. Interpreters will be positioned for optimum viewing from the audio-visual access areas.

Accessible Toilets
• Accessible toilets are located throughout the Musical Con convention halls. Locations are indicated on the show map. ExCeL London has 40 accessible toilets across the venue.

Sound Loops
• A limited number of portable personal sound loops are available on request.

Disabled Parking
• There are 85 accessible bays in the Orange Car Park (max. vehicle height 1.9m). Walkways have a maximum gradient of 1:15 for ease of access.

Wheelchair Hire
• Available free of charge at ExCeL London on a first-come, first-served basis. ID (passport, driving license, etc.) required as a deposit.

Mobility Scooter Hire
• Available free of charge, subject to availability. To check availability, email info@excel.london.

Guide and Assistance Dogs
• Guide and assistance dogs are welcome at Musical Con, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, which permits their entry into public establishments. Please note that no other pets are allowed within the venue. Be aware that the event features multiple amplified sound sources, which some dogs may find distressing.

Cloakroom
• There is a cloakroom on the ground floor of the Excel. You can use this to store your belongings for the day or if you need to store your cosplay during a workshop.
